Service terms

How a device or a project is handled from the moment it reaches the lab.

These terms describe how the lab works. Nothing in them is intended to limit rights you have under Israeli consumer law.

01What we take on

  • SMICRO LAB offers two kinds of work: a diagnostic and repair service for boards and devices, and project-based engineering work — embedded development, IoT solutions, and custom electronics.
  • The repair service covers electronic and hardware faults on boards and devices — computer and laptop motherboards, smartphone and device boards, and other electronic PCBs.
  • Software-only issues, cosmetic damage, housing and mechanical damage, routine module or screen replacement, and household appliances are outside what we do.
  • If a device turns out to fall outside that scope, we say so and return it rather than attempt work the lab is not set up for.

02Engineering & project work

  • Embedded development, IoT solutions, and custom electronics work is scoped and agreed per project, in writing, before it starts.
  • The sections below, from Diagnosis through Parts & warranty, describe the repair and diagnostic service specifically — they do not apply to project-based engineering work.

03Diagnosis

  • Handing a device to the lab is consent to open, inspect, and diagnose it.
  • A device may carry more than one fault, and further faults can surface only during diagnosis or repair.

04Quotes & approval

  • Any figure given before physical inspection is preliminary.
  • The cost is set after diagnosis, together with a time estimate.
  • Paid work starts only after you approve it, and we stop and contact you if the scope or cost changes materially.
  • If you decline, the device is returned in the state it is in.

05Repair time & parts

  • Repair times are estimates, not guaranteed deadlines, unless we agree otherwise with you directly.
  • Timing depends mainly on parts availability. If a part has to be ordered, you are told the expected cost and lead time before we proceed.

06Limits of repair

  • Not every device is repairable, and a repair attempt is not the same thing as a guaranteed repair.
  • Liquid damage, corrosion, severe electrical damage, and previous repair attempts raise both uncertainty and risk — we say so before starting.
  • A component that is already weakened can fail during a repair carried out with reasonable professional care.

07Your data

  • Back up your data before handing the device over, whenever the device still allows it.
  • We cannot promise that the contents of a device stay intact through a hardware repair, and we do not offer data recovery.
  • A passcode is requested only when a test needs one, used for that purpose only, and not retained afterwards.

08Parts & warranty

  • Replacement parts may be new, compatible, or recovered, depending on the part and its availability. The type is explained before you approve the repair.
  • Where a warranty applies to a specific repair, its scope and duration are stated to you at handover.
  • Opening and servicing a device can affect its seals and original water resistance; we do not test for or restore it.

09Your rights & complaints

  • You have the right to know what work was performed and which parts were used.
  • Nothing here is intended to waive rights that cannot be waived under Israeli law.
  • To raise a complaint, contact us by email; we respond within a reasonable time.
  • If a device is not collected once the work is complete, we contact you to arrange its return.

10Changes to these terms

  • SMICRO LAB may change these terms at any time, and without notifying customers.
  • The version published on this page is the one that applies.
